THEY CAME, THEY SAW, THEY CONQUERED... THE MOREIRA PROJECT IN JOHANNESBURG
Moreira took THE MOREIRA PROJECT to Johannesburg on Thursday 6 July 2006 to showcase his debut CD The Journey Vol 1.and put on a show the likes of which Johannesburg hasn't seen for a while.
Held at the sophisticated Moloko Club in Rosebank, 150 guests from across the music spectrum came together to hear the latest offering from Cape based THE MOREIRA PROJECT lead by charismatic and energetic saxophonist, MOREIRA CHONGUICA..
Working with his usual 8 piece line up of Mark Fransman on keyboards, Frank Paco on drums, John Hassan on percussion, Cameron Ward on guitar and Helder Gonzaga on bass, band leader and celebrated saxophonist MOREIRA CHONGUICA took the audience on a journey of discovery introducing them skillfully to his debut album. Enhanced by the melodic voices of Tumi Mathale and Mimi Ntenjwa and the guest appearance of Wanda Baloyi this was a show filled with beautiful African rhythms , and loads of energy until the audience was begging for more.
The audience which was made up of representatives of a number of major record companies, top retail music stores, musicians, media, clients and friends vibed solidly to the band during their debut set.
The general response from the guests: Why don't we see more of this kind of thing in Johannesburg? Please come again soon!!
