August/September 2008 Newsletter

As the seasons change and winter turns to spring, I have been busy preparing Vol 2.

As you read this, the album has gone for mastering in Paris. We are rushing to release it in October. I am very proud of the final product. The musicians who played with me did a fantastic job and I am so grateful to them for time and energy.

But it is hard on the pocket to be in the studio and not be playing but I have had some shows here and there.

I have also had the opportunity to be backwards and forwards to Maputo for personal reasons but we are going to be doing a show in Maputo in October which we are all looking forward to immensely.

I played in a show in Durban called Cape Town Jazz comes to Durban at the Durban City Hall. Thanks Martin for the opportunity and thanks to the backing band of Allou April, Sammy Webber, Frank and Tony Paco and Mark Goliath for making me sound so good. It was fun and the Durban audiences are very appreciative of good jazz. Thank you Durban for being so welcoming.

The Moreira Project has also just come back from Windhoek where we played in the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters Concert alongside some stunning Namibian jazz musicians as well as Zamajobe and her band from Johannesburg. Thank you to all the sponsors for their hospitality and for organising such a stunning event and the amazing Windhoek crowd for being such an appreciative audience.

We are all very excited at the prospect of the new album. Keep your eyes open. It will be in the stores really soon.

Best wishes,
