I know it is winter but I have had a most exciting few weeks in July.

The first weekend I spent in Nelspruit for the closing concert of Innibos. What a stunning festival. Thank you to all those who invited me and for the Lowveld hospitality shown me and my team.

In the middle of the month, I flew to Rio de Janiero to be part of the tribute show for Maestro Silvio Barbarto who tragically died in the Air France plane crash at the end of May. He was only 45 but highly revered and admired by the music community of Brazil and other parts of the world who knew him. I met him last year for the first time and we had hoped to collaborate on some material later this year.

The tribute show featured a number of well know Brazilian musicians and singers off all genres that Silvio had worked with over the years. I was very honoured to have been included in this group. It was a sad, moving and yet exhilarating experience.

It was also fun to bump into a number of Mozambicans who are living and studying in Rio de Janiero.

The Brazilians really know about culture. They are so proud of everything they do.

But the meatoh my I would have very high cholesterol if I lived there!!!

I have received some stunning press in this month. At the beginning of the month, I was delighted to see the article in the US BILLBOARD magazine on Mozambican musicians. But locally, check out the latest OBRIGADO magazine at your local Vide E Caf. Also look out for the article in the latest FRESH LIVING magazine at your local PICK n PAY. Thank you to all concerned for the interviews and great pics.

Stay warm!!
