NEWSLETTER - FEBRUARY 2011
February is my birthday month and so officially the beginning of MY year!
I was in Mozambique at the beginning of the month for a week of meetings. What a rush!!
There are so many great projects on the horizon. There is lots of planning and organising going on at the moment. It is going to be a bumper year if just some of them transpire.
So far this month, I have played some interesting corporate functions and flew to Johannesburg with the quartet to record a taping for AfroCafe. What a treat it was for us to find Mt Tlale Makeni at the studio. He was scheduled to record as well with someone else! He just upped his percussion and came and joined us on stage! Such great energy and talent.
Be sure not to miss the programme. We hear it is going to be on Tuesday 15 March 2011 on SABC 2 @ 22h00.
The following day I spent some time at the African Leadership Academy in Pretoria. This is an amazing place. I had lunch with the four Mozambican students (two boys and two girls) who are studying there and was humbled by their wisdom and intelligence. One is from Maputo, two from Beira and one from Nampula.
Cape Town is extremely hot at the moment but the heat lifts the spirit.
