After a month of holidays and experiences, it is back to the grindstone!

I spent a very pleasant 10 days in Cape Town at the beginning of January with my family and managed to squeeze in a publicity photoshoot with supreme SA/NY photographer, Anthony Friend.

It was back to Maputo for 3 days before jetting off to New York to join my friend Zwelethu Mthethwa who was opening his 8th solo exhibition at the Jack Shainman gallery. I had the most amazing time. Najee kindly came to New York to spend some time with us. His brother and manager, Fareed also flew in in the last few days to have dinner with us. We dined with Omar Sosa before seeing his show at the Blue Note and I got to see Marcus Miller perform at his Alma Mater. All my heros in one week in one place. Happiness is……..

I met such interesting people, went to Madison Square Gardens to watch a Knicks game, spent the day wandering around the Museum of Modern Art.

I shopped for vinyls and dvd's, and was inspired! It was just the 'injection' I needed.

Then back to Cape Town. I played at the glamourous J & B Met and for Mining Indaba and went to Cape Town stadium to watch the Red Hot Chilli Peppers!

What an exciting few weeks and a spectacular start to 2013. I now can't wait to get my teeth into some fabulous projects this year.

On a more sobering note, spare a thought for all the displaced people affected by the floods in Xai Xai and Chokwe. The devastation is serious.

If you are in a position to donate to the International Red Cross or Gift of the Givers who are doing such admirable work in the area, please do so. The agricultural loss and livelihood to these folk is really serious.

Think Large, be Epic!!
