August and September are traditionally preparation months for my team and I but there was also quite a lot that happened that was very exciting.

In August I performed at the album launch of Carlos Gove. Such a wonderful guitarist and friend. Congratulations to him on a great record. I also attended the National Cultural festival. That gave me the chance to spend a few days with the wonderful people of Beira. This is a special festival that highlights our Mozambican cultural heritage and is well worth a visit next year.

I was honoured to be invited to share a stage with some of Mozambique's Movers and Shakers in a conference organized by the World Economic Forum entitled Global Shapers Conference.

FACIM was held in the last week of August again and congratulations to the organisers for putting this together to showcase Mozambique's finest products.

September began with the exciting news that the CNN programme "Inside Africa", which was on Jazz in Mozambique and featured Professor Orlando and the Chopi timbilas of Zavala and myself, was to be screened seven times at the beginning of September. I had no idea so many people watched CNN!

If you didn't catch the programme, here is the link:

Then I flew to Cape Town to rehearse my band for the upcoming performances and to attend and speak at Music Exchange, a music conference that is growing in stature year by year.

We had a stunning unplugged performance in Sandton for Radio 702 and then it was back to Maputo for a few days before returning to Johannesburg for Joy of Jazz.

Thank you to all the people who came to see me perform. I am very humbled.

October looms...Morejazz is around the corner...28 and 29 October 2016

Be there!
